 WELL You can believe the hype about Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight. Having watched Batman Begins on television just a couple of weeks ago I followed through with The Dark Night last night at Bendigo Cinemas.Heath's performance as the Joker was certainly outstanding alongside a cast of incredibly talented actors. 1849 - The first clipper ship to sail to Australia, arrived in Sydney, the Phoenician,. The voyage from Britain had taken just 91 days compared to an average voyage which would have taken 140 days.
1858 - The telegraph line bet-ween Melb and Adelaide was officially opened. It was the first intercolonial telegraph link.
1883 -G.E. Morrison leads an expedition from Port Moresby to report on New Guinea for the Melbourne Age. He re-turned on October 15, having been speared by natives and badly wounded.
