Samuel was tried at Croydon in Surrey on the 20th of July 1785, for stealing bags of saltpetre worth 65 shillings.
He was sentenced along with his partner in crime James BIRD, to transportation for 7 years.
He left England with the first fleet on board the Alexander.
Samuel had no occupation recorded.
Described as of stout build, five feet seven inches tall, with dark complexion and dark hair. Samuel escaped with the Bryants, and died after recapture.
