CONVICT - SAMUEL DAY
FIRST FLEET TRANSPORTEEb. 1767 - d. 1827
Samuel was tried at Gloucester in Gloucestershire on the 23rd of March 1785, for burglary worth 2 shillings.
Samuel was sentenced to death which was commuted to transportation for 14 years. He left England with the first fleet on board the Alexander.
His occupation was not recorded.
He received 150 lashes for attacking Aborigines in March 1789.
Samuel also received 200 lashes in February 1792, for working privately during government hours.
Is thought to have married Mary Bolton on 2nd November 1788 but this is not fact. Nevertheless, the couple lived together for the next 25 years.
At Norfolk Island they adopted two daughters with the surname Sullivan.
