William was tried at Abingdon in Berkshire on the 6th of March 1786, for stealing lead from a roof worth 28 shillings.
William was sentenced to transportation for 7 years.
He left England with the first fleet on board the Alexander.

In December 1789 he received 50 lashes for insolence. Night watch member by 1791. Described as 'a first class settler' in 1812.
William's occupation was recorded as labourer.
