The Australian Race Course

Depending on which club you visit in Australia, the course will be made of either grass or sand. The layout will probably be a simple oval shaped racing course although many courses have complex patterns to help facilitate the different starting points.
It's A Great Day Out
At every course you will see spectators gathering around the course in order to watch and cheer on their horses.
The Grand Stand
The Grandstand is a 3 wall building with an open end facing the race course. It usually contains rows of seating which is raised higher with each row giving spectators a good viewing platform to view and cheer-on the race
Hurdles On The Course

All hurdles are at least 1 metre high from the ground to the top bars and in steeplechases, the height must be at least 1.15 metres.
In all jumping races, the course must be at least 2,800 metres long and the first obstacle should be placed not more than 150 metres from the start. As hurdles are made so that they are easily knocked over, a horse that hits a hurdle can usually keep going.
