The Dead Jack

A jack becomes dead if a bowl drives it:
over the bank;
completely over the side boundary;
into a hole or iregularity in the bank;
so that it rebounds within 22 yd of the mat.
The end is then void and must be replayed in the same direction.
A jack remains in play if it rebounds from the far bank onto the rink.
The Damaged Jack.
If a jack is damaged, the end is declared dead and a new jack substituted.
