Visit significant sites in Central Victoria’s early history following some important trails, and on the same tracks as early explorers. It’s a great day out for the whole family!

Howitt’s Campsite located Sedgwick Rd, Sedgwick.
Burke and Wills Campsite Mia Mia located Sutton Grange Road, Mia Mia [near Redesdale].
Burke and Wills Campsite Knowsley located Hume Highway and Barnadown Road, Knowsley.
Burke and Wills River Crossing located Sandy Creek Road/Barnadown Road, Barnadown.

Burke and Will’s on their famous 1860 expedition camped at 3 known localities within the region, they are Mia Mia, Knowsley and Barnadown bridge. After taking a few wrong turns the expedition got lost near Redesdale.

Fearing the worst a search party led by Howitt in 1962, was out sent to find the pair, the party camped the night inside a 700-year old tree which, protected from Australia’s harsh weather conditions.

These early explorers had led the way for New Settlers to the area
