The Whipstick Regional Park
The Whipstick is the most southerly extension of Victoria’s Mallee. Encompassing 2,300ha. A walk along the forest tracks will reveal many hidden treasures. All picnic areas on this page have been built on ex-eucalyptus distilleries or homestead sites.
Located: 8 Km North of Bendigo.
Managed by: National Parks Victoria as a State Park since 1987

Loeser's Picnic Area
Features and Facilities: Camping and picnic area, parking, tables/seating, BBQ/Fire places, walking track to Hartland’s Eucalyptus Distillery. You can still find remnants of the old distillery scattered throughout the area.

Harry Hartland’s Eucalyptus Distillery was set up in 1890 and still produces oil today.

Shadbolts Picnic Area
Facilities: Camping and picnic area, tables/seating, toilets, parking, BBQ/Fire places.
Features: Park information board, 2 Walking tracks.

Walking Track 1 - The Old Tom Mine:
Track length/Duration: 5.5 km approximately 2½ hours return trip.
Track leads to the historical remains of a once thriving goldmining area and to the location of an old diggers mine. Fossicking/prospecting in this area is ok subject to a person/s holding a current Prospecting Licence/Miners Right.

Walking Track 2 - Flagstaff Hill Lookout:
Track length/Duration: - 1.1km, approx 30 minute return trip.
You’ll find picturesque views from flagstaff lookout.

Features: Park information board, 2 walking tracks.

Walking Track 1 - Foxes Bend and Rifle Range:
Track length/Duration: N/A. Track is a must walk in spring.

Walking Track 2 - Frogmouth track:
